We got to visit the Luckhardt's flat. The neighborhood is eclectic- lots of trees and small shops. There is a large number of Turkish families in the area. We met up with Wanda's oma and aunt and the six of us went to visit the Russian Memorial. Wanda's grandmother had escaped from East Berlin several times, the last time with her baby on a train. It was great to hear her story.
After this, we walked through the area (former East Berlin). There was a small festival going on- probably to celebrate the upcoming football game today. We saw Toney Carey play, a B-rated musician from the 70's followed by what I think is probably the illigitimate Steppenwolf. It seems the group had a split and some old members played in Berlin under the name. It should've been billed as John Kay & Steppenwolf- the music would've been familiar too:)
We ate, drank and listened to music. Then we hopped the S-Bahn and said goon night to Ina. We then went to Kreuzberg district to an alternative bar (no name). The musci here was wonderful. Then we stopped by Jonny's (Wanda's aunt) bar the Nollendorfer? and visited some more. I am sure to have a "KAHtuh" (can't spell it)-hangover.
Other new words from me: something is "LEHKuh" -tasty. Not "good". Oh, and a scoop of icecream is a KOOguhl.
